Umami Cocktails

Taste #5 Umami Rush? makes excellent rimmers for cocktails.


  • Taste #5 Umami Rush?
  • lemon, cut into wedges

Shake around 2 tbsp of Umami Rush onto a side plate or saucer. Take a wedge of lemon and cut a shallow notch into the flesh of the fruit, place on the rim of your chosen glass and run all around the outside of the glass to moisten the rim. Now turn the glass upside down and dip the moistened rim into the Umami Rush until the whole rim is covered. Tap to get rid of excess Rush. Now fill with your favourite cocktail.

Dirty Mary


  • 2 ice cubes
  • vodka, double shot/70ml
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 6 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 dashes Tabasco
  • 150ml/5 fl oz tomato juice

Place the ice into the glass and pour in the vodka. Add the lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce and tomato juice. Stir well and season with salt and pepper and Umami Rush.

Bloody Martini


  • vodka, double shot/70ml
  • 1 tbsp dry vermouth
  • 2 tbsp olive brine
  • 1 olive

Put all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake well to combine. Pour into the rimmed glass and serve with the olive.
